What is Bitcoin?

First announced in 2008 by a person or group called Sotoshi Nakamoto in a PDF document called "Person-to-Person Electronic Money System", Bitcoin is based on social transactions in a distributed structure called a "blockchain".

What is the Origin of Bitcoin?

You can think of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as digital data with a value determined by market conditions. This digital data has no physical counterpart, such as precious metals or printed money, but is generated in a virtual environment by specific and publicly available algorithms. Bitcoin production is done by Bitcoin mining, which works with blockchain technology.

What is Altcoin?

The term Altcoin, derived as an abbreviation of the words "Alternative Coin", refers to different cryptocurrencies produced as an alternative to Bitcoin. Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Dash and the like are cryptocurrencies in the Altcoin group. As of 2021, there are more than 5,000 Altcoins worldwide. After Bitcoin, Ethereum has the highest market capitalization.
